Smarter Health Care Coalition


Co-directed by Healthsperien Principals Andrew MacPherson and Ray Quntero, The Smarter Health Care Coalition is a forum for learning and innovation that allows participants to brainstorm, raise ideas and issues, and find common interests in the pursuit of smarter care. The Coalition is built off of research and momentum sparked by Professor Mark Fendrick of University of Michigan, Director of the Center for Value Based Insurance Design and Professor Mike Chernew of Harvard Medical School, and has grown to currently consist of a broad-based and diverse group of health care innovators, including health plans, life science companies, employer groups, provider-related organizations, trade associations, academia centers and professors, foundations, and consumer groups.

Directed by Healthsperien Principal Andrew MacPherson, the mission of the Coalition to End Social Isolation and Loneliness is to engage diverse stakeholders, increase public awareness, promote innovative research, and advocate for policy change that combats the adverse consequences of social isolation and loneliness and advances approaches that improve social connectedness for all Americans.

The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) is dedicated to the ideal that all Americans with advanced illness receive comprehensive, high-quality, person- and family-centered care that is consistent with their goals and values and honors their dignityThey will achieve this by empowering consumers, changing the health delivery system, improving public and private policies, and enhancing provider capacity.

Founded by Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors, Tom Koutsoumpas and Bill Novelli, C-TAC is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, D.C. and is funded by grants and the support of members. National Partnership for Hospice Innovation


Healthsperien’s Founder, Tom Koutsoumpas, serves as President and CEO of the National Partnership for Hospice Innovation (NPHI). NPHI is an organization driven by passion and integrity to help people live fully through the end-of-life. Their most important ideas are learned at the bedside, not in the board room.

Their members are patient, family and community-focused hospice, palliative care, and advanced illness providers across the country made up of like-minded leaders with expertise and passion for the mission of the highest quality, person and family-centered, mission-oriented end-of-life care.
